President's Message
Our bodies are on the line!  Last Thursday we were enthralled with Dr Suzanne Purdy's explanation of the latest research on the brain, and how we might fortify our brain to minimise the risk of dementia in old age.  This Thursday, we will learn about a different part of our anatomy (though with a male bias) - as Graeme Woodside, CEO of Prostate Cancer Foundation of NZ, addresses us in this Blue September month.  Graeme's message is relevant to everyone, as awareness of this cancer gives the best chance for early intervention and treatment - if not for yourself then maybe for a friend or family member. We ask members to wear blue in support please.

Note that there's a Board meeting this Wednesday evening.  If you would like a particular matter raised at that meeting, please let Alex Gatt or myself know.  See you all on Thursday morning.
Stories
Guest Speaker Dr Suzanne Purdy Brain Health, Sensory Processing and Creative Activities

While in Iowa USA to study deafness disease research for her PhD she came across Rotary. On return she set the MA programme in Audiology. She is a former Lecturer in Audiology in the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, University of Auckland and a Senior Research Scientist, National Acoustic Laboratories, Sydney and currently Head of Speech Science 2003-current Tamaki Campus.
