Personally, I'm on leave with Roseanne - following my Mum's death (at 93) last week, and very grateful for the break away. I appreciate the kind and supportive words from so many of you.
Many of you will be joining in a fund-raiser for Polio Plus with the new "Murder on the Orient Express" movie on Thurs. 9th; Penny McGarry is organising this. And don't forget the shoreline cleanup that Nick Goddard is organising for this Sat. 11 Nov. (as Director of the Environment & Science Committee). Nick is sending out an email for the organisation of this.
Also, please don't forget to fill in your name on the Roster for the gift-wrapping (Project Elf) gratefully organised as a major fund-raiser for St Johns by Ainie Kwok. The spreadsheets are in the Bulletin, and Ainie is collating Rotarian, family, and friend offers of participation to oversee the Glendowie College students who undertake the gift-wrapping. Dates are 4-24 Dec.
St John’s does it again – St John’s Rotary & Susan St John!!! (Every pun intended). If you weren’t at the “sold out” limited seating dinner meeting last Thursday night, you missed an excellent speaker and a provocative topic.
Fact:295,000 kiwi kids (almost 20% of our kids) spend their childhood living beneath the income poverty line.
This means 20% of New Zealand’s children are unable to experience the basics most of us take for granted.
This year St John’s Rotary (in conjunction with Glendowie College Interact Club) are delighted to have the opportunity to be the supervising Elves for the gift-wrapping booths at Sylvia Park. This gives our club the superb opportunity to work alongside our charter Interact Club and enhance our exposure within the community. It also provides a the opportunity to raise approximately $21K (based on last year's donations).

Maia has been invited to play in an All Woman Wheel Chair Rugby tournament in Paris in December! Her current Rugby Chair won't make it. Come and hear her story and learn how you can help get her to Paris.
