Rarely has "Labour's" Week(end) been quite the same?! I trust you've enjoyed the 3-day break despite the rain today.
I've a few items to mention this week:
1. Our speaker and subject this week is sure to be of interest. David Tucker, Community Development Advisor, will bring us up to speed with the major redevelopment underway in our neighbouring suburbs of Glen Innes, Pt England, and Panmure. David's topic is: "Tamaki Regeneration - the greatest urban transformation project in New Zealand".
2. Tomorrow, 24 Oct. is our Combined Committee Meeting at Remuera Golf Club, 6.00 for 6.30 pm
3. RSVPs required for all evening meetings. For our next evening meeting on 2 Nov. (a special evening with Susan St John, often in media speaking about Child Poverty in NZ), please RSVP to Brian by the requested date. Note that at our October evening meeting I was disappointed to learn that some registered members/friends missed out on their meal due to other members/guests who turned up without providing an RSVP. This is unfair, and hopefully won't repeat? For evening meals, we need to specify accurate numbers for catering.
4. Bruce Howe, who manages the Club's working finances, has been challenged recently with some delayed invoice payments by club members. To address this we decided to send out notices to those concerned to request payment of arrears. Where possible please pay on receipt of your monthly invoice, as this saves Bruce's time and avoids the need for us to chase up overdue amounts.
5. Gift-Wrapping Fund-raiser on 4 to 24 December at Sylvia Park Mall. Please see the email from Ainie Kwok dated 22 Oct., and consider offering your time for one or more 3-hour slots on the Roster. Open to members, families, and friends. This is a major fundraising opportunity for the Club.
