It was a great pleasure to listen to our speaker Prof Chris Paton from Liggins Institute last Thursday morning.
A fascinating talk about AI in the hospitals.
We also welcomed David McAuley from the Remuera RC and a special visit from Trinity who attended the RYLA program in June.
For those members that assisted in the annual event of packing Christmas Puddings, a huge thank you. An awesome result from you all putting 5,500 puddings into their boxes.

DR CHRIS PATON INNOVATIVE HEALTHCARE SIMULATION:
Dr Chris Paton spoke to us about his fascinating research and, in particular, his STARSIM project, which uses simulation to recreate a children’s hospital.
The system allows researchers and healthcare teams to simulate how a hospital operates, helping them identify what is working well, where improvements can be made, and how the hospital might respond in an emergency. By creating a realistic virtual hospital environment, teams can test different scenarios and plan for unexpected events without putting patients at risk.
Dr Paton’s broader research focuses on using innovative technology and simulation to improve healthcare training and emergency response. His LIFE project, for example, provides 3D-simulated clinical scenarios that allow healthcare professionals to practise managing time-critical emergencies. The technology has been used internationally and has also been adapted for virtual reality training.
His work demonstrates how simulation and technology can help healthcare professionals prepare for emergencies, improve systems and, ultimately, save lives.
I'm on the committee of Ellerslie Athletics club, details here.
We run children's athletics training at Mt Smart Stadium on Monday evenings throughout the summer from 12 October - 22 March, from 5:50 - 7:30pm.
It's a great evening out for families, but we understand it's a tricky time of day, especially for the little ones, so we like to offer a sausage sizzle to help the energy levels – with proceeds going back to the club.
Our committee member in charge of the bbq last year has left, so we have a gap to fill.
Would anyone on your team be interested in taking charge of the ordering/collecting and cooking of approx. 200 sausages each week? All costs covered by the club, volunteer labour please. We provide all the gear.
Icing on the cake would be if they had access to a deep freezer to store any extras week on week, but this is not essential.
If you could please circulate this to your peers, we'd very much appreciate it. Any q's, just ask.
Enjoy an evening of laughter with The Cottage, a comedy where secrets spill faster than the tea.
Please note: Twenty tickets will be pre-booked, so be quick to secure your place.
