Tiff is a woman on a mission who spoke with tremendous energy and passion. Cure Kids came into her life and provided a ray of hope from her experiences with her now 10-year-old daughter Eva who also is a Cure Kids Ambassador. When pregnant with her second child (Eva) at the 20 week scan she was informed that there was something seriously wrong with the anatomy with a large hole in the diaphragm. This muscle is very important as it helps you breathe. Because of this hole, all the abdominal organs were pushed up into the chest cavity impacting on proper lung development. Eva's survival was predicted as less than 10% survival and their was a serious risk of being stillborn.  Tiff wrote a diary following that 20 week scan, which she continued until Eva turned 10 years old.

 

Eva spent her first 6 months of life in Starship's Paediatric Intensive Care Unit and at just six weeks of age, Eva underwent her first operation to rebuild her diaphragm and reposition her organs. Eva was in and out of hospital for the first year of her life, then spent the next four years living at a Starship ward. Eva now lives at home with family, and a nurse assists with daily cares. After multiple surgeries, numerous bouts of pneumonia and MRSA she has defied the odds to be alive today.
