Projects and Events Overview
St Johns Rotary engages its members, the community, volunteers and sponsors in a wide and diverse range of programmes, projects and events over time.
These include activity for:
- Members only: Rotary-specific activity such as Rotary learning and training plus seminars/conferences
- Members, family, friends and others: These include social events, conferences, conventions plus Rotary Fellowships and Rotary Action Groups
- Communities/community members: These can be locally or international communities and include schools, community groups, other charities et al
St Johns Rotary has a registered Charitable Trust - the Rotary Club of St Johns Charitable Trust. The club is an Incorporated Society and performs the operational side of the club including the planning and implementation of projects etc, where funds are raised these are channeled to the Charitable Trust which as a stand-alone organisation with its own Board of Trustees and distributed for charitable purposes whether to projects of the club or other causes.
PROJECTS AND PROGRAMMES
Projects are the activities created by the club, usually from the ideas of members, and then planned, resourced and implemented through to a successful conclusion.
Programmes are usually specific activities organised and run by Rotary outside the club to which the club nominates and often sponsors candidates according to the programme criteria.
These fall under the following headings and more can be explored concerning these by clicking on the link of interest. If you want to know more about any aspect of these service areas please go to Contacts and contact us for a no-obligation chat.
In addition to service-orient projects (above) there are fundraising projects such as the annual Golf Tournament raise the funds that allow other service-oriented projects or programmes to occur.
A point to note is that members are Rotarians first with St Johns Rotary being their "home base". While most Rotarians contribute their time as volunteers via the club, as Rotarians they are entitled to "put their hand up" for the activities of other Rotary clubs any where in the world and any of the vast array of organisations and activities of Rotary internationally.
VOLUNTEERS AND SPONSORS
If you would like to support the activities, especially our fundraising and service-oriented projects there are frequent opportunities for volunteers and / or sponsors to enlarge the scale and effectiveness of the project. Please either contact the:
- Club Committee Director responsible for any of the three general areas of service mentioned above,
- Organisers of individual projects as included in the Events Calendar, or
- Register your name in any Volunteer Sign Up List
- Or just simply Contact Us and have a on-obligation chat of what is possible for including you in current or future projects in some way.
An overview on Rotary volunteering can be found HERE
We are extremely appreciative of those who support us and for many this is their preferred means of contributing to their community. However, if you would like to explore membership please just ask about that as an option to explore.
